Tomáš Medek (*1969) studied sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Brno University of Technology, where he has been working as an assistant professor since 1998. In 1997 he completed an internship in Halifax, Canada at NASCAD (Nova Scotia College of Art and Design). He is the author of monumental, yet primarily subtle works. The central theme of his work is structures, which he uses to create art objects with impeccable craftsmanship and thoughtful concepts. With spirals, helices, circles, ovoids, tubes and objects based on real-world motifs, he proves that the play with space is infinitely multifaceted. In the last ten years he has been intensively involved in new 3D technologies. Since 2010, he has been the head of the 3D Studio, which operates at the Sculpture Studio 1 at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno.
