Milan Houser
Milan Houser (*1971) has long been engaged in abstract painting intertwined with the creation of objects. His approach is characterized by an exploration of all the basic material components of a painting: the blind frame, the canvas, the paint. However, his relationship to painting is "non-painterly": he has long used industrial materials and technologies. He is constantly refining a relatively narrow range of selected formal processes and, more recently, the use of colour varnishes that he specially produces. Houser creates in large non-narrative series, by which he tries to encompass and exhaust all the formal procedures followed with the aim of a kind of repetitive or rather repeatable perfection. The central theme of his work is not only a fascination with selected physical properties of the material world, but also with the possibilities of seeing and perceiving it.
