Michaela Vélová Maupicová
Michaela Vélová Maupicová (1982 – 2018) graduated from the applied art secondary in Turnov, where she studied the grinding and engraving of precious stones, followed by the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where she studied drawing with Jitka Svobodová and intermedia with Milan Knížák. In 2009, she won the second prize in the Kunstpreis der Leinemann-Stiftung für Bildung und Kunst in Berlin and became a finalist in the NG 333 Prize.
Her solo exhibitions include the National Gallery Prague (After Rembrandt, 2017), GASK (States of mind, 2016) and the Regional Gallery in Liberec (Borders of the Shadow, 2014). She has also participated in many group exhibitions and her works are included in important public and private collections (NG Prague; Leinemann-Stiftung für Bildung und Kunst, Berlin, etc.). In 2019, a year after her death, a retrospective exhibition was put on by the Prague City Gallery at the Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace in Prague, accompanied by a monograph on the artist edited by Petr Vaňous.
