Jan Uldrych

Jan Uldrych (*1983) is a Czech painter whose work ranges between realism, abstraction, and symbolic visuality. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Prof. Zdeněk Beran (2003–2009). Uldrych's paintings capture inner states, transformations of consciousness, and the subtle boundaries between reality and dreams. For him, painting is a means of introspection—an attempt to capture the invisible layers of existence, memories, and silence. He is interested in moments when the physical and spiritual overlap, when form dissolves into energy and gesture becomes a trace of thought. His painterly language combines precise detail with intuitive gesturality. The result is paintings that act as windows into inner landscapes – surfaces vibrating with tension between light and matter.
Uldrych regularly exhibits in the Czech Republic and abroad. His solo exhibitions include Roots (The Chemistry Gallery, 2019), Prayer (Volta New York, 2018), Fairytale (2022), and Garden (2024). He is represented by The Chemistry Gallery in Prague and Knupp Gallery in Los Angeles, among others. His works can be found in private and public collections in Czechia and abroad.
