Benedikt Tolar's creativity is based on constant observation of reality. In things that the ordinary person passes by unnoticed, he already observes future artefacts in advance. The basis of his work has thus become primarily recycling, to which he has gradually added an ecological mindset. With his typically idiosyncratic humour, he reacts critically to the present, to the excess of materials and the lack of green. By connecting seemingly incompatible things, he creates – often even for himself – unexpected contexts. The resulting theme is usually based on the material itself, its properties, shape, colour. The artist often loses control over the creation of the work; it is, on the contrary, the material that in this case controls its author.
